Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar
Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, an Oncologist has returned to India after being in the U.S. for nearly 28 years. He has set up five cancer centers in Karnataka and Tamilnadu providing the entire spectrum of cancer control, from tertiary care and research to cancer prevention and education. One of the centers Bharath Hospital & Institute of Oncology at Mysore has won the “Kannada Rajyotsava Award” for service to community.
The conviction, that a combination of factors like education, economic independence, etc., and not just health care alone can solve the problems of rural communities, has led him to spearhead an organization like IHDUA.
Dr. H. Sudarshan
Padmashri Dr. Sudarshan is well known for his work with the Tribes of BR Hills, Karnataka. He is the Chairman of the Task Force on Health Institute (by the Government of Karnatak). He is also a member of the Lokayukta Health wing.
He was awarded the “Right Livelihood Award” by the Government of Sweden. He has also received the M.A. Thomas Award for the year 2001.
Mr. Abdul Hussain S. Vagh
Mr. Vagh is a well-known Industrialist in Mysore. Besides being the Trustee of People’s Education Trust in Mysore, he is also the treasurer of Mulla Rubabai Saifuddin Vagh Trust and the Abdul Hussain Rajibai Vagh Trust. He has been the Director of Rotary Club, Mysore West and has been associated with IHDUA since 1998.
Mr. H.N. Nagaraja Rao
Mr. Nagaraja Rao is associated with the Oriental Research Institute, Mysore. He is a Sanskrit scholar and volunteers with organizations working in the field of education. His association with IHDUA has been since the last 8 years and he actively manages programs related to education.
Mrs. Bhagya Ajaikumar
Mrs. Bhagya Ajaikumar is the wife of Dr. B.S. Ajaikumar, Managing trustee of IHDUA. She went to USA in 1983 and this marked her entry into the field of Visual Arts. She did BFA from the University of Iowa and MFA from School of Art Institute of Chicago.
She is now shouldering the responsibility and giving a helping hand to her better half, to run the rural women empowerment program and rural education.
Dr. Mangala Amarkumar
Dr. Mangala Amarkumar is an anesthesiologist, based in US and is in the Trust since 2005. She is very active, especially in the field of women empowerment and education, and is a great resource to the trust. She visits India frequently.
